Preparing for Your House Call
Our veterinary teams are dedicated to providing exceptional care for your pet during each visit. We aim to be as thorough as possible while minimizing any anxiety or stress for your pet. Being prepared can help us achieve this goal. Here's how you can assist:
-
Please ensure any changes to your address, phone numbers, or other contact information have been updated with our Client Relations team.
-
Update any important logistical information, such as gate codes or building numbers. If you know Google Maps has trouble locating your home, please inform our team. Searching for your home or apartment reduces the time we have to spend helping you and your pet.
-
Kindly initiate the intake process for each patient being seen.

Feline Check List
-
Ensure your cat is confined to a small room before our visit. We find a bathroom works best as there are very few hiding spots, and the counter works great for exams.
-
Our team will provide an ETA when en route to your home. If your cat tends to be anxious, it is best to hold off confining your cat until just before we arrive.
-
Canine Check List
-
Please have all doggy doors and interior doors closed to help prevent possible escape artists.
-
Please have your dog on a leash before meeting our veterinary teams. If your dog is leash-reactive, please have your dog confined in another room before greeting our team.
-
If we see multiple dogs during a house call, please confine the additional dog(s) until the previous exam has been completed. This will help our team remain focused on the patient being examined and reduce anxiety for the patient.
-
Find a space in your home free of obstacles and with adequate lighting so our team can safely examine your dog. We find family or living rooms work best. It is best to avoid small spaces.
Wellness Visits
-
Please have a stool sample available for annual screening.
Illness/Sick Visits
-
Please have stool and urine samples available for possible testing.

Video and Photos
Videos and photos are a great way to help us be prepared for your visit. Please email or text videos at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit.
Anxious or Fearful Pets
Please inform our team in advance if your pet tends to be anxious, fearful, or aggressive. This helps us prepare to provide the best care possible while ensuring the safety and well-being of your pet and our staff. If we are unable to provide services safely, our veterinary team will work with you to create a safe treatment plan for a future visit. A consultation and travel fee will still be charged that day. We understand the increased costs may be frustrating. However, pets that experience significant anxiety or fear can be very dangerous and precautions need to be followed to provide a safe exam for your pet. Oral sedation will be provided that day at no charge for your next visit so we may safely examine your pet.
If your pet needs to be introduced to wearing a muzzle, check out this website: The Muzzle Up Project
If your pet has been prescribed oral sedation by one of our veterinarians during a previous consultation, please ensure the medication is administered before our arrival.
A Note About Appointment Times
Valet Vet provides windows for arrival times. Generally, we have an AM block between 9:00 AM-12:00 PM and a PM block between 2:00 PM-4:00 PM. While we try very hard to be on time, due to the nature of veterinary medicine and the unpredictability of some of our patients, we can run behind at times. If we are going to run later than the window provided, our team will reach out to let you know.
Our appointments generally last about 30 minutes in duration (a bit longer for multiple pets seen on the same day). Rechecks or booster vaccine appointments generally last about 20 minutes. If your appointment runs longer than anticipated, ie the patient can't be found or needed medical records haven't been obtained, an extended exam/consultation fee may added to your invoice.
Our schedule is often very full each day. We are unable to see additional pets unless previously scheduled.
